Prince Charming

“The education I received from Fashion Careers College was amazing. The Career Services Department helped me find a job as assistant designer, for Rufskin Denim, before I even graduated from the program. I am still working there today and because of the training I received while in school, I find myself to be an integral part of the Rufskin Design Team.”

“I was in production for men’s apparel at a surf company, but was really craving a more creative job and felt that I lacked the skills to do it. While maintaining my current job, I started the certificate program in the evenings at FCC. Working all day and attending class at night, I had to remain engaged, creative, and thoughtful. The teachers and curriculum challenged me to be the best I could.

Just as I was finishing school, it was announced my company was going to start a women’s line. After competing with several other people, I got the position as product developer for the women’s line. My education in fashion gave me an advantage over the other candidates Now I work for Charlotte Russe in development and production. I definitely feel as though FCC laid the foundation for my career in the fashion industry. The relationships that grow from attending a small school are invaluable – both with my colleagues and the teachers there. I wouldn’t have received that kind of attention at another school.”

Jesse Combs

“Fashion Careers College showed me that with the right focus and drive I can have the career I desired in the Fashion Industry.   I'm currently employed at Nordstrom's, at UTC - La Jolla, in the Logistics Department.  I have been apart of two men's trend shows and several fashion shows and know that putting one on takes a lot of knowledge and dedication, and I know I am educated enough to take the challenge and complete it successfully. I have also worked with the Visual Team on holidays and special events and know that it is the career path for me.  The classes at FCC provide a door to the industry and I just needed to walk through it.   I plan to keep pursuing my dream and with great pride that I put forth the hard work and time to earn my Certificate in Fashion Business & Technology & knowing that FCC has taught me so much.”

“Directly out of high school, I enrolled in Fashion Business and Technology at FCC. FCC is the foundation of my career. I gained real world knowledge from working, industry professionals.  I even found a mentor in one of my professors, Tanya McAnear.  She coached me through difficult decisions, opened doors and helped steer me along the path to reaching my goals.  I would not be in the position I am today without the help and support of the wonderful teachers and staff here. Currently, I am employed at DC Shoes, Inc., as Supervisor of Apparel and PO Management.

Cherry Choongphon

“I obtained my specialized Associate Degree in Fashion Design and Technology, with honors, from Fashion Career College, San Diego in 2008. My professors helped me develop many skills such as sketching, patternmaking and sewing. I took several internships and local fashion companies doing everything from fashion show production, sewing, patternmaking, you name it. After experimenting with different jobs I found one I loved at Disguise Inc. My supervisors at Disguise were so impressed by my knowledge and skills they offered me a fulltime position as a production patternmaker at Disguise Inc. I am very happy working there and appreciate everything FCC did for me.”
